I was always a shy kid and never really wanted to play games or go to other people’s houses. My parents made play dates for me, but I did not like them. I attended the DLC for reading and social skills. In the social skills classes, I learned how to have conversations, use eye contact, stay on topic, put myself in others shoes, problem solve by myself, play board games while losing gracefully and how to be a leader and true friend. Now, I am not anxious when I am in a small group of people and I look forward to inviting my new friends to my home and going to their home to hang out and play video games.
